I have been an EFL teacher for 33 years and have taught at most levels. I live and teach in the suburbs of Lisbon, Portugal. For the past six years I've been teaching 5th and 6th grades (1st & 2nd year EFLers). I love teaching and find it an even more challenging task since the arrival of ICTs. I also love computers, the Internet and interacting with friends and colleagues throug

I have been an ELT teacher for 28 (22 at the Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa) years and have taught at most levels. I teach at the Centro de Estudio de Idiomas, Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa. I live in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. I have six children, three girls and three boys. I love my family.
I have a BA in ELT, also, I finished a masters degree on ICT (Information and Communications Technology) but I didn't graduate because of administrative problems.
I have two certificates from the British Council in Mexico, one in E-Tutoring and another in Training the Trainer.
For the past three years I've been teaching online (Educational Technologies, Virtual Communities, Discourse Analysis, and Materials Design). I really love teaching. My wife says she feels been cheated because I spent more time with the computers. I'm l

ately enrolled in an exchange project where students and I will interact with some American students via Skype. This is a social network for our bachelors: http://bainelt-uas.ning.com/

I have been teaching EFL and Spanish as L2 for 19 years at different instructional levels: high school and college. At this moment, I am teaching Spanish at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. I am originally from Caracas, Venezuela. I also do teacher training. I love learning about using new tools and would like to learn enough to teach future teachers how to use these tools to improve their teaching.

Dear Webheads and Webheads to be,

I am a Brazilian living and teaching in Brasília, Brazil. I have been an EFL structor for almost 20 years now. I took part in BaW07 and BaW08 and consider myself a very person to be part of such a wonderful group of people. My first experience with EVO was in 2006 and since then I have been a big fan of the event and recommend to everyone I have a chance to. I love technology and as such I am a big fan of blogs, wikis, and podcasts. I love spending a great deal of my time creating things on the web and interacting with my peer teachers or students. One of the things I like about learning on the web is how accelerated it can be. I look forward to sharing some of the things I have learned and learning much more with you all. E-mail: joseaokc@yahoo.com blog in Wordpress blog in Blogger blog in 21classes. BTW, I love blogging.  Most recent blog in blogger

My name is Natasa and I come from Belgrade, Serbia. I have been an EFL teacher for 19 years. The name of my school is Zaduzbina Ilije M. Kolarca. It is the oldest school of foreign languages in Belgrade – we celebrated our 75th anniversary in December. I teach adults and teenagers. I am a great fan of blogs and wikis and Web 2.0 in general. This is my second BaW. Last year I was really overwhelmed and I hope it will be easier this time. I need to concentrate on week four, however (I was out of town during week four last year, so I never created a podcast). What is great about BaW is the friendships you make here and I am really looking forward to the next six weeks.

Carmen Dell'Aria

Hello from Italy! I graduated in 1990 and in 2007 I took my second degree in " Language Teaching Technologies " with a disputation about languages and technologies in the global school. I teach English in a secondary school, but I'm also a specialized teacher for students in special needs. I'm an Educator/technologist for a C.A.L.L. Lab at the University of Palermo. In 1999 I was a reporter at the East Midlands Regional Training Network during my experience as an Italian language assistant at King Edward VII upper school in Melton Mowbray (UK). In 1990-92 I was a multiple-tasks staff member of ESF courses (in charge of course planning, tutorage and teaching, teaching consultant). I'm currently doing research on blended learning, videogames and social networks. I’m glad of working on some educational projects in Second Life (Babel project, LanguageLab, Art&Life, ANITEL). I live fully, working, living, playing and socializing in Second Life. However, my first life is very busy… My key interests include: learner motivation, encouraging learner autonomy, ICT and the use of Web 2.0 tools and virtual worlds in teaching and learning languages, non verbal communication, investigating the use of SL in education, portability to SL of lessons learnt from e-learning of English and Italian teaching, social networks. Actually I'm offering free activities and classes for people who want to learn Italian or have a basic knowledge about this language and culture (Italian Pronunciation, Café Italia, Italian Classes for Beginners). I’m also giving a weekly event for Italian teachers in ANITEL. I’m taking part in MUVEnation project and I am eager to learn more about languages teaching and learning. I look forward to sharing my experiences and improving my knowledge with you!

Hello from freezing cold Toronto, Canada

It's a good thing I'm a skiier otherwise I would be wishing myself somewhere warm.

I'm a corporate educator currently on sabbatical.  Like Carmen above me I'm also taking the MUVEnation course on Edcuation and Second Life.  I'm not sure how I will sell it in my corporate environment but those little details have never stopped me from learning so I will continue and figure out something along the way.

Part of my course is to create a blog and to reflect on my learning.  This activity is becoming stressful.  I'm not sure if I a) know how to learn and or b) know how to blog.     It's a good thing I'm persistent.    There is a new book coming out on Blogger.   It's called Google Blogger For Dummies by Susan Gunelius (Paperback - Jan 16 2009)   I'm going to be going through that book with a fine tooth comb.

I'm looking forward to connecting with all of you.

Thank you to all the volunteers who are taking their time to provide a forum for this incredible learning.

It's because of people like you and the people who sign up that I'm have become a much better learner and far more curious and creative in my approaches to learning.

PS  Picture will be coming.  I have to find one

For me, it is more than just a course. Here, in addition to the gain of knowledge and experience, we gain friends with whom we share ideasm problems and solutions. I have just started my blog. I will share it with you when I see it can give you something. I am interested in online language learning  but I need to know more on that. I am pretty good at programming but I am still learning. I think this is a good chance to benifit from each others experiences and skills. There is a lot to say. Days are coming.

eager to meet you.

Anisoara Pop

Hello, and greetings to

all of you from Romania, Transylvania, which is the famous land of Dracula!!!

I have been teaching English for a long time, almost 22 years but basically in traditional face-to-face classes. However I am trying hard to keep the pace with technology and have developed (with a specialist's help) my own site where my adult students of Business English can find materials which encourage them to take more responsibility for their learning.

The site address is: http://www.orizont.net/users/victor/AnisoaraPop/

Right now I am involved in organizing a workshop in higher education ESP. You can find details about it at: http://www.orizont.net/users/victor/espworkshop I have also estabilished an ESP wiki and an ESP teacher networking. I am eager to learn more about using technology to develop our students' autonomy and motivation.

I am glad and thankful  to be part of such a large and special community and  hope to be able to stay in touch even after this event.

Nergiz Kern

I am a DELTA-qualified English teacher and have taught in various context in Brazil, Germany and the UK. I live in Turkey and teach on-site, online and in Second Life.
This is my second BaW session. What I have learned in BaW08 and the new colleagues and friends I met have contributed a lot to my professional development throughout the whole year after the session. I just couldn't resist participating again. Although, this year, I might sometimes only manage to lurk.

Looking forward to to whatever the BaW team has in store for us.

You can find more about me here.

Hi my name is Louise Carr and my Yahoo ID is Louise 3100.

I live in Kent, England and work for Central Sussex College in Crawley.  I  am currently a Curriculum Team Leader responible for a small team of teachers who deliver ESOL and EFL (including IELTS) to learners in the community and across various sites.  I have taught all levels and also teach ESOL subject specialist trainees and parts of the generic teacher training programme.  I have just been appointed eCPD personal adviser for the college.
My aim is to have all my colleagues become as enthusiastic as I am about using technology in teaching and learning including the college's VLE system.
I joined because I  am currently trying to put together a blended teacher training programme and want to learn as much as I can about both designing and using online communication.

Hello Everybody,

Originally from Montreal, Canada, I now live in New York City. Currently I'm teaching Low-Intermediate adult learners at a private language school (I've taught all levels of GIE as well as TOEFL).

I attended last year's Blogging for Educators and touched but the tip of the iceberg, so I'm back, hoping to learn more and improve the few Web 2.0 skills that I do have! (My children are 13 and 12 so this is their world too and I'd like to understand how the Internet influences their world as well.)

My Yahoo ID and Skype IDs are webgina10003

I look forward to meeting + working with you all.

Hello everyone!

I am originally from France but I now live and work in Canada as a French teacher. I have been teaching for 5 years in a private language school to young adults from all over the world. They come to Montreal to improve their level of French before they go to university, or in order to get a better job. I try to include technology into my classes, but there are so many new softwares and applications out there that I’d like to know more about! This is why I joined Webheads in Action for the second year in a row: to better know how to use these tools in my teaching practice.

Hello Everyone & Greetings from Finland!

I have been living and teaching workplace English in Finland since 1998-- before that I taught in S. Korea and also at an IEP when I was getting my

MA TESOL from Southern Illinois Univerisity @Carbondale.  I came to Finland for a nine month contract and was then planning on returning to the states and I am still here after ten years.  I have recently changed jobs.  I am now the Director of Studies at LANCELOT School GmbH out of Germany.  LANCELOT stands for 'LANguage learning with CEritified Live Online Trainers'.   This job will allow me to work from anywhere that I can plug in my computer and access the internet.  It is ideal for me...  I also teach at a local high school for six months out of the year.  I decided to join this session to familiarize myself with more tools and also as a means to meet more like-minded language teaching professionals from around the world.  Looking forward to interacting with you all during this session and in the years to come.

I've been teaching English (ESP, EST) for 18 years at Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas to engineering, basic sciences, architecture and urban planning students. Three years ago I started to explore technology and I became a fan of webtools. I just find them fascinating, but I need to learn more and more. In the  last thre

Berta Leiva

Hi everyone. This is Bertha/Berta Leiva in Caracas, Venezuela. I also work at Simon Bolivar University with Marianela and Daf but mostly in the freshman EFL/EST reading program and the theory and methods of ESL teaching and learning of our graduate program in Applied Linguistics. I have been lucky to be a Webhead since 2005 and have met wonderful colleagues and friends from all over the world. Students from developing countries do really need us to narrow the gap between those who handle online tools naturally because they have had the experience and means and those who don´t. I feel technology has a socioeconomic component that most people do not really talk about or consider and by keeping up with the latest trends, we can analyze their use and potentials in our classrooms and the effects they might have in our students´ academic,  professional and personal lives. It´s great to be in this amazing group once again.

Angeles Hernandez

My name is Angeles Hernandez. I have been an English teacher for 25 years now. I have taught children and teachers, but I have mainly taught adult students. I have also been involved in school management and administration for quite a few years.

I am currently working at the Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Santander  in Spain. This is a state school for further language education.

In the last few years I have done my PhD courses and read my thesis on the curricular integration of ICT in the EFL class. I am about reading my PHD dissertation after some research on the use of ICT in secondary schools.

This year I am giving an experimental English course

on the use of Web 2.0. tools. It is a presential course and most of the students are Primary and Secondary teachers. I enjoy it a lot. I am a believer on the bonds of friendship or comradeship on Internet and this is what I find so lively put into practice in this group. I hope I can help and be helped. Thank you for sharing.

It’s the biggest school of the island, situated in Puerto del Rosario, capital of Fuerteventura. My pupils are teenagers, from 14 to 18 years old. I’ve been teaching for 23 years and I’ve always been taking up courses on new matters related to the learning-teaching process, that’s why I’ve enrolled in this adventure. I don’t have much experience with ICTs, however,  I’m developing my second e-twinning project, which is a European project where you have to use ICTs.

I expect to learn a lot. If so, I’ll put it into practice in my projects, as I’ve realised using ICTs is an excellent way to motivate my pupils.

Hi !

I'm Helen from Nice (from the UK to start with !) I've been working for the past 15 years in French state sector secondary schools  - this means spotty teens ! I was a lurker on last years evo session ( due to lack of time and lack of confidence too I think - sooo many things to learn I felt swamped :(  However, since that eye-opener I've been messing around very slowly and trying things out with my pupils and yes !! - enjoying myself !!

My pupils are mostly from families with a lot of social problems and lack motivation (big understatement !) -  using IT in the classroom does seem to get them interested and more active. That's why I'm looking forward to being more active this year and hoping to learn and share as much as I can .

Bye for now

Sanja Božinović

My name is Sanja Božinović. My Yahoo ID: sanja.bozinovic

I live in Zagreb, Croatia with my husband and two sons. I have a B.A. in English language and literature and Italian language and literature. I work as an English teacher at a high school in Zagreb. I teach Italian, too.

Last year I participated in my first EVO. I was  in “Exploring the Big Apple, Byte by Byte“ and I loved it. That's why I am back in EVO this year.

I'm interested in computers and the Internet. I hope that “Becoming a Webhead“ will help me organize those tiny bits and pieces of the knowledge about the Internet that I have now and, more importantly, to learn things that I will be able to use in my teaching.

Last year I met some wonderful people during the session.

I hope this year will be even better.

Kristin Oberholtzer

I'm Kristin Oberholtzer from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, U.S.
My yahoo i.d. is kristin.oberholtzer
This is my second year in the profession. I work as an adjunct ESL instructor at Albright College in Reading, Pa., U.S.

I'm pleased to be part of this group! I would like to increase my web 2.0 literacy to find efficient and effective ways to use such technology with my students. I've dabbled with using a few web apps/tools, but have mostly used the internet for content (articles, podcasts, etc.) because I find myself overwhelmed beyond that -- which apps are best? how do I get started? where do I find the time? I'm not naturally tech savvy, but want to keep learning. This semester I want to try a wiki with one of my classes.

Many people who come to live in Australia receive over 500 free hours of English classes, funded by the government. A focus is placed on basic literacy and numeracy, as well as  employment skills and survival tools for settlement. I want to learn new skills myself, so I can be of more help.

My yahoo ID is fkay67.

Australia is a long way from everywhere, even with the internet.

I hope people are interested in an interested in an interchange of ideas and opinions. I haven't heard from anyone yet.......   Kay

Hi, my name is Elaine Krieg. I'm originally from New York, USA (Westchester County), but have been living in Germany for the past 12 years. I have been teaching English for the past 8 years (on and off due to having children) and recently took on permanent work with a private English language institute a year ago. I am teaching only adults, both "regular" and Business English classes. I enjoy this profession because I love socializing with all different types of people and have a certain degree of flexibility in the job. I joined the Webhead sessions, because I realized recently how behind I am technologically and would like to gain more confidence in using technology in the classroom. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with everything.

Hi, my name is Sarah Phillips.  I'm English, but I have been living and working in Spain for more than 20 years.  At the moment I live in Galicia, a green, wet corner in the north-west of Spain.  I started out teaching English in private schools and as time went on got some more qualifications and moved in teacher training and materials writing.  My special interest is primary aged children, and recently I have done quite a bit of work in CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), which is challenging and fascinating.  I've joined these sessions to find out what can be done in education on the web - I feel I have glimpses, but I need some structure, guidance and above all hands on experience.  So, I'm excited and a bit nervous about what's to come, and looking forward to working with all of you.

After becoming homeless, I traveled cross country via motor home with my family of two boys and husband from Seattle Wa. five years ago and parked it here in Sodus Point, NY.  Since our move, I have become a "self-taught" web designer with my Apple laptop and became self employed.  Could not live as a "starving artist", not with two little boys..so I became a bi-lingual consultants for a literacy school program and my advocacy business grew from there.  I have since that time have inherited a computer store (in which I have turned it into the ONLY bi-lingual computer/service storefront in the county, I also teach adults ESL in the evenings.  My goals for 2009 is to combine all of my skills and begin teaching my ESL students about computers and the internet.  Many still do not realize that the world is TRULY at their fingertips with a computer.  So,  Greetings to all.  I am looking forward to enhancing my knowledge of the Net through these classes and forums and my other fellow internet class companions.(have to make my photo smaller)

Hello everyone!. I'm Cristina from Banfield, in the suburbs of Bue

nos Aires, Argentina, where I also work. I’ve been an EFL teacher for 20 years. I work in state and private  schools teaching adolescents and adults  at different levels.  At the moment, I’m writing my dissertation to be awarded my BA degree in EFL  at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral, Santa Fé, Argentina.

I’m also attending the Blog-Based and e-portfolios sessions and I hope that my work over the next 6 weeks will enable me, and all participants, to introduce Web tools into the classrooms because I consider they  help take real life into the lessons and make learning meaningful.  This is my first time at EVO and I’m very pleased to belong to such an amazing learning community.  I don’t have a blog yet but I’m eager to start one right now.

Hello everyone  from sunny London!

I am a teacher (of EFL and ESOL) and also accredited as a CELTA teacher-trainer. After teaching for 19 years in one of the largest private language schools in London (where I was also Head of Resources), I have become a humble, part-time teacher in local further education college. I was trained as a Drama teacher and actor a long time ago and this still influences my teaching.

I am interested in finding ways to empower students in their learning and the internet seems a superb means of doing this. Although I use the web and various applications regularly, I have never before had the opportunity to use it in teaching. I am looking forward to increasing my knowledge and sharing experiences and ideas with others.

Gilmar Mattos

Hello everybody...

My name is Gilmar Mattos - all the way from Franca-SP-Brazil. Well, I have been teaching EFL for 20 years now. I have a degree in Translation English and Spanish from a State University from the State of São Paulo (UNESP). I work as a translator too although I have dedicated most of my working life to teaching, which I love. I now work at CCBEU - our BiNational Center here. I lived for 17 years in another city -São José do Rio Preto, where I graduated and 4 years ago I decided to come back to my roots. Everything started at CCBEU back in the early 80's and I'm really happy here. I have always been interested in the use of Technology in the classroom and last October I had a wonderful experience when I decided to do the "Webtools4BrazilianEducators" with Carla Arena from Casa Thomas Jefferson. I had already had some experience because I had also attended a workshop by Carla in 2005 but I always say things have really changed since the online course last October. Since then I have been trying to keep in touch with great friends I had the chance to make during the course and when I heard about this opportunity to join this group and do the baw09 course I did not think twice. I'm really excited about it and I am sure this will also open new horizons for all of us. I'd love to read/hear from all of you.

Hello everybody! I am writing from Greece, where I have lived for over 20 years now. I am originally from the UK. I don't have any formal TEFL qualifications (my degree was in German and Russian) and sort of fell into teaching English, but now I can't really imagine myself doing anything else! I mainly teach the 7-15 age group but recently I have been asked to teach pre-schoolers, too. This is my first contact with on-line learning and I am very excited about it. I hope to learn a lot here. Reading the intros alone is very inspiring, what a brilliant bunch of people! As other first-timers have said, I feel slightly swamped by all the information and I don't know how active my participation will be due to other committments and the fact that I know NOTHING about web technology. However, the atmosphere here is so incredibly supportive that my initial fears have already disappeared. The whole EVO initiative is brilliant, I love it! Congratulations to everyone involved.

Sorry for being a bit late to introduce myself. I a bad flu early this week; however, I am feeling better right now. My name is Adela Sanchez and I am a 32-year old Peruvian English teacher. Although I am a certified translator with almost a 10-year experience in translating technical, educational and theological texts from English into Spanish and vice versa, I have found teaching the most rewarding and gratifying working experience. I worked as an EFL teacher in private schools and institutions, where I had the opportunity to develop student-centered active methodologies. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to teach an ESP course at the Ministry of Transportation and Communications of Peru, withi

n the framework of the 31º APEC Transportation Working Group (TPT-WG) meeting, held in Lima, Peru, in August 2008. I also taught a Practice Teaching Course aimed at prospective English teachers at “Federico Villarreal Distance Education College” (Escuela Universitaria de Educación a Distancia – EUDED/ UNFV).

I will be leaving my country in March this year to travel to Quebec, Canada, to pursue an MA in Educational Technologies at Université Laval. So, it will be a great pleasure to share with all of you our experiences and knowledge on how to become Webheads in order to integrate new technologies to our teaching practice.

But now with web 2.0 and in the near future web 3.0,  me and my students can create and learn many things. I have also been a teacher trainer on using technology for teaching and e-learning for school and college teachers and Block Resource Coordinators.  I hope to learn a lot to disseminate this knowledge I am happy to participate in EVO-baw09

Patricia Wierna Saravia

HELLO! I have been an English teacher since I was 16. First I worked with private students and understood it was my passion. I started my teacher training at the age of 21 and my first experience in charge of a formal class was in a Computer Institute teaching specific vocabulary. That was ages ago, we didn’t even have internet access in our province those days! By the way, I live in Salta, Argentina. After that I always viewed computer matters as only for experts, but look at me now! Last year I bought a computer and six months later I joined BAW 08. Very courageous! I learned a lot about blogs and even taught my teachers (I have a little English school in my neighborhood). I didn’t work with blogs directly, but coordinated my staff and I’m very proud of their work. We couldn’t develop it very much though as we don’t have computers at the institute and it came to be quite difficult to have cl

asses in cyber cafes. Anyway as we plan not to give in, I joined again to update what I already know about blogs and learn to work with wikis and podcasts. I’m eager to learn from you all

Olga Romashkina

Hello! My name is Olga. I am from Russia. I live in Moscow. I've been working as a teacher of English for 13 years. I have been using Skype and other resources of Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 for the last two years. All my students find it very challenging. I strongly believe IT is the future of teaching, studying and communication. I try to encourage all the teachers of my language school to use IT in their work. I teach, train and motivate them, but I'd like to broaden my knowledge and improve my skills in this field. That's why I am here. I also hope to get positive emotions and new friends.

Good luck!

Virginia Cena

Hi! My name is Virginia Cena, but you can call me Vir. I'm from Rosario, in Santa Fe, in the center-east of Argentina.
I'm a graduate Teacher of English as a Foreign Language from IES Olga Cossettini and received my degree last August, but have been delivering classes for some years now.
I'm also doing the course of Translator, which I expect to finish next March. We're on summer holidays in my country so I'm not working at the moment, but the rest of the year I work at several schools of English here in my city.
I've joined this group thanks to a friend of mine that told me about the sessions and even applied for me because I was travelling last week.
I really love everything that is related to English, teaching and computers (technology in general), so I hope this will be a great chance to make the most of all of them combined.

I also love music (I play the guitar when I can!), dancing (I take jazz dance lessons), going out, travelling, taking photos, reading, seeing films and sitcoms and eating good food!

Hola from Kathy (also known as Catalina) in Florida. My Yahoo ID is kathleenamaru@yahoo.com. I teach ESL at Daytona State College in central Florida. I have two Master's degrees - in TESL (1996) and in Drawing/Painting (1994). So, it won't surprise you that I'm working as a part-time ESL adjunct professor while I also work on a series of paintings of Mexican Indians with Aztec and Mayan themes. I'm taking this course because I'm sympathetic to the reasons more and more students are taking classes online teaching. I'd also like to expand in my teaching hours but would prefer not to do more driving.

On a more personal note, I am hoping to relocate to the Santa Fe area in New Mexico in May. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you, as we learn more about online communications.

Karen Siemens

I'm Karen and I've been teaching adult ESL in Rossland, BC, in Canada for three years now.  Because there aren't very many immigrants in our area, I often have beginner to upper intermediate students all in the same class.  Many of the younger students are professionals or skilled tradespeople but I also have a number of retirees who have moved here to be closer to their children.  As well, part of my job is helping pair students with volunteer tutors.
Before teaching ESL, I spent my time homeschooling our six children.  Now only my youngest daughter is still at home.  For the last several years the girls have done a combined courseload of online and individualized (created by the parent) courses.  I have also taken a number of university classes as a distance or online student including my certificate in TESL.  So between this and that, I've acquired a  basic computer knowlege and some familiarity with what an online student encounters.
I hope through BaW to learn about some new tools that might be useful for my students and tutors.  Specifically, I'm hoping that I can set up a wiki so that the ESL teachers and tutors in our area can share resources and encourage each other.  I'd also like to help my daughter do a blog for her English.  More than anything else though, I'd love to learn more about language, teaching and computers.  When you learn something new, you can never tell where it will take you.

I’m an enthusiastic EFL teacher who recently did the Lancelot course & switched to online teaching which is awesome!  I love travelling and spent the last 2 years teaching in Cambodia & Vietnam.

This is my Europe year.  I am tucked away in Caivano ( a local town), about 15 minute drive to Napoli – traffic permitting.  I’m helping to establish an online programme at the language school I work for, and in my free time sample the various ice cream flavours and other goodies that Italy excels in.

Just joined WebHeads to keep up with my students’ techie skills. Turns out I know more than some of them!

Recently life’s been a more  interesting experience than I had anticipated.  No regrets.

Looking forward to catching up with old friends and making some new ones along the way.  You can find me on Skype -janholland4 or yahoo.  janholland18

Hi! I am writing to you from a hot and humid city called Belém, which is the largest city in the Amazon Basin.Belém is about two degrees of latitude south of the Equator and that's why it has a hot, humid climate. Rainfall occurs almost daily. It is known as the "city of the mango trees" because of the large number of those trees growing here. It's a lovely place and I really like to live here!!!

Like Jan Holland, I consider myself an enthusiastic EFL teacher too and I love being an English teacher despite of all the

problems we, Brazilian Teachers, face here.

I have been teaching for four years now. I worked for two years in a Montessori Regular School, I taught young learners from 1st to 8th grades. I also taught at a public university(Federal University of Pará), as a Substitute Professor. I taught for the Letters undergraduate course. I hold a B.A. degree in English and Portuguese and also a specialization degree in the Applied Linguist

ics field. Recently I have passed in a public contest and I will work at the Federal University of Pará. I will teach for the Letters undergraduate students.

I'm really interested in technology and that's why the reason I decided to join this group and learn as much as I can.

Abdellatif Zoubair

 Hi everyone,

I hope it’s not too late to complete week 1 tasks. I did my best to complete them by last Sunday, but I just couldn’t. I do have a yahoo ID (zoubairn) and I have introduced myself before, but I haven’t included the rest of the information needed. I work as a supervisor for the ministry of national education in Agadir, south of Morocco. I also teach part-time at a private school. I joined this group to update my ICT knowledge and skills; and I hope I’ll have enough opportunities and time to actually use some of the web tools.

I’m looking forward to sharing ideas and experiences with you all. Thank you.

 Abdellatif Zoubair,

Morocco.

Ditza Graça

Dear Friends,

My name is Ditza and I live in the Algarve, Portugal. I've been teaching EFL for 20 years.

I use computers in my classes quite often. Though I've been doing several workshops on Web 2.0 educational tools, there's so much I still need to learn.

This is my first time in BAW and I have Teresa d'Eça to thank for because I had never heard of it before. Something I've realised so far: this is a really friendly group. I hope I learn a lot with you!

Sorry to be so late with an introduction - I did try earlier, but the system defeated me. I participated in BAW2008 a little and learned a lot. This time I'm just lurking, that's all the current schdule really allows, but it is still very useful. I teach langauge for Istanbul University on the MBA prep programme and I train people face to face mostly for Cambridge Esol teaching awards (CELTA, ICELT and DELTA) for ITI Istanbul and I'm an on line tutor for the Distance DELTA. I keep resolving to take a proactive approach to technology rather than my so far largely reactive one.  Maybe this year ...

David Kertzner

Another late introduction!   I received a Masters degree from the School for International Training (SIT) in 1995 and have spent the past 11 years teaching English in corporate settings under the business name ProActive English, working with a partner who is currently in Mumbai working with a team of fifteen market analysts on advanced level writing and communication skills.  It has been a stimulating challenge to deliver a meaningful program over five weeks amidst their busy schedule and pressing work demands.   As part of our training model over the past 10 years, I have developed a Web-based learning tool called the Business English Web, which allows participants to record speech onto a server and get audio and text feedback from a trainer in an asynchronous environment.  We seem to have success in our courses when our Web-based learning activities are closely integrated with the classroom curriculum.  I think one of the challenges of using Web-based tools is keeping the Web-based environment simple and the task clear, so that learner focus is not on the experience of engaging with the technology, but on the experience of engaging in the task or activity and includes the critical step of reflecting on that task with the help of a teacher or classmate.  This is the first time I have added to a Wiki.  Yippee!

Please feel free to contact me directly at: dkertzner@proactive-english.com

You can get a better idea of the training we have been doing at: www.proactive-english.com

Béatrice Alves

Hello everyone,  My name is Béatrice; you can call me Béa or Bees. I’m French but I live in Brazil where I’ve been an EFL and French teacher for about 20 years at all levels, for teens, adults and senior students. I hold a M1 degree in FLE teaching. I taught many years in a language institute but I now specialize in teaching adults language for specific purpose (namely aviation and engineering) online or face to face. I’ve always loved bringing technology into my classes to make them more dynamic and meaningful. 2 sessions at EVO 2008 brought me a lot and I’m eager to learn more and share with this group.

Uhmmm??? I tried to fix some of the boxes that were in the wrong place (on the right) but still keep having misplaced names ... I´ll try once more but I guess it depends on the browser.

Right Berta, Pbwiki works best with Internet Explorer. In other browsers it might not look good (pictures and tables out of place). I wrote a disclaimer in the navigation bar
